The setting was far from perfect when The National Championship of Norway took place on Sunday the 4th of September.
Heavy rain in the morning made the conditions challenging for the players on our two outdoor courses.
However, 24 men did not care about the weather and made the championship a great success.
For nine hours the games went on, and many of the players were of course keen on beating the players who
had played in The World Championship!
The final was a battle between Hallvard Flatland and the rookie, Paal Gjelseth. Paal started playing the game of shuffleboard three
years ago at his summerhouse in Spain – a fantastic place close to the old town of Mijas – where he built his
own course (bought from Jim Allen, of course). Last weekend in October Paal has invited all the members of The
Norwegian Shuffleboard Association to play in Spain! He has also built his own course home in Norway….
The finale was a game to 75, and Paal was ahead for a long time. But when Hallvard took the lead 51-41 and then
shot 26, the game was over – and so was the rain…..

Now we are all looking forward going to Germany in mid October, to play against our German friends!
