altThe ISA has recently joined the leading international Sport for All organization (TAFISA).
The mission of TAFISA is to achieve an Active World by globally promoting and facilitating access for every person to Sport for All and physical activity. By lobbying traditional sports such as Shuffleboard, providing international events and networking, TAFISA is the perfect platform for our sport to be recognised as a sport for all ages.
TAFISA maintains close connections to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), just to name a few.
From 10th to 14th November 2011 TAFISA holds its 22nd World Congress in Antalya, Turkey. During its General Assembly it is scheduled that the ISA will officially be accepted as a full international member of the TAFISA.
Dieter Hussmann, ISA First Vice President, together with his wife Birgitt will travel to Turkey to represent the ISA at this prestigious event and witness the ceremony.
The five day congress offers a variety of workshops and speeches and provides many opportunities for active networking.
High calibre speakers such as the President of Turkish Olympic Committee, the Special Advisor to the UN Secretary General, the Chairman of IOC Sport for All Commission and a member of the All China Sports Federation will be offering  their views on Sport for All and will surely be interested in TAFISA’s newest member, the ISA.
An article about the latest Shuffleboard World Championships tournament in Canada has already been published on TAFISA’s website, displaying the participants of the Men’s final Torben Hussmann (GER) and Geoffery Bell (CAN). With their difference in age, both fit perfectly into the targeted Sport for All philosophy.
As TAFISA also asked for some action on the courts to explain the game, they have been provided with a picture taken from the latest Team World Championships in Germany.
The website of TAFISA can be reached under www.tafisa.net .
By joining this organization, the ISA has made the next step towards a bright future within the international sports community.
