The World Ranking is based upon points achieved at National and International tournaments. In order to compare National tournaments in different countries, the ISA Board has established a method using “Country Factors”. These country factors are derived from each nations’ performance during the last five ISA tournaments and determine what one point, won in a National tournament of a specific country is worth compared to one point in an ISA tournament. The higher the country factor, the higher the points players receive from National tournaments.

Country Factor Update – Norway joins – Germany advances

Now that the World Singles have been conducted, it is time to update these country factors. As Norway has joined the ISA as its seventh full member country, they also receive their official country factor, enabling Norwegian players to enter the World Ranking. First Norwegian player ever to be listed is Tom Bliksmark, finishing 30th in Dieppe and ranked #160 in the updated World Ranking.
Germany’s men placed 60% of their players in the top 16, thereby their country factor climbed from 0.43 to 0.70, closing the gap to the nations at the top, Canada (factor 1.00) and USA (0.91).
Japan’s women are still at the top (1.00), but Canada (0.95) and USA (0.82) are closely behind.
