FORMAT

Men:

The 44 male players will be divided into 4 groups of 11 players each. Each man will play 10 games in 11 rounds of play. That will constitute the Men’s Round Robin. All ties will then be broken by a round of SpeedShuffleboard (Round 12).

The top eight players from each group will move into the Knock-Out Round (Rounds 13 – 16).  During this phase of the tournament, the top four players from each group will play for positions 1 to 16.  The bottom four players from each group will play for positions 17 through 32.  This will be the Round of 16, Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals. The top four positions will play their Finals in a separate round (17).

The eight players in positions 9 and 10 after the Round Robin will play each other in Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals (Rounds 13 through 15) for positions 33 through 40.

The four players in 11th position at the conclusion of the Round Robin will play each other in Semi-Finals and Finals (Rounds 13 and 14) for positions 41 through 44.

Women:

RR1

The 36 female players will be divided into 4 groups of 9 players each.  Each lady will play 8 games in 9 rounds of play.  That will constitute the Womens Round Robin 1 (RR1).  All ties will then be broken by a round of SpeedShuffleboard (Round 10).

RR2

The 36 ladies will then be divided in 9 groups of 4 based upon the order of finish after RR1 and the first SpeedShuffleboard.  The first 4 groups will be composed of those who finished 1 through 4 in RR1, the second 4 groups will be filled by those who finished 5 through 8 in RR1 and the ninth group will comprise those who finished last in their respective groups after RR1. They will then compete in RR2 (Rounds 11 through 13). All ties will be broken by a round of SpeedShuffleboard (Round 14). Those in the last group are finished at this point and will be  awarded places 33 through 36.

Knock-Out Rounds

Players tied for positions 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20, 21-24, 25-28, and 29-32 will play-off the ties in Semi-finals and Finals (Rounds 15 and 16).  The top four women’s finals will be played in Round 17.

Note: Any tie in a Knock-Out Round will be broken by playing 2 additional frames (one hammer for each player).  If the tie is not broken, play will continue in the same manner until the tie is broken.
